I've read many excerpts around the net talking about Barack Obama's home church in Chicago. In many of these blogs the writers have spoken about the churches commitment to their African roots. Which in no way am I implying that pride in one's ancestory is a bad thing, America is a nation filled with immigrants from across the globe. We should all be proud of were we, and our families, originated. BUT, as Americans we should also realize that we have an obligation to this great country we live. No matter what corner of the earth one's heretige is from, we should be able to take our place as AMERICANS and do our best to ensure this great nation continues to offer a safe haven of freedom and liberty for those that seek refuge. After getting this across, one must ask where someone's allegience lies when the claim in their mission statment goes as follows "We are an African people, and remain "true to our native land," the mother continent, the cradle of civilization.". Does'nt exactly sound like an organization that places American values first. I wonder if this has any relation to Michelle Obama never being proud of America during her adult life until recently?
